THE CHARACTERS
OF VOLTRON




KEITH

Keith is the Commander and leader of the Voltron Force and pilot of the Black Lion. He is approximately 21-23 years of age and little is known of his background. His appearance is very handsome (especially with those long eyelashes) and he is very strong and lean.

Being the commander of the Force, Keith is loaded down with many responsibilities, including the welfare of his team. Consequently, Keith is a often quiet individual who spends much of his time pondering his decisions, thinking up new strategies, and just being leader. He also has this hobby of reading a lot of books -- he can often be found doing so either in the pilot's lounge or his room.

Keith is the mysterious dark knight of the group. He rarely expresses his feelings and concentrates more on missions, even off-duty, than on his personal life. He is always tense and ready for any emergency, making him appear a bit emotionless at times. But don't be fooled by his outer exterior, Keith occassionally shows his gentle nature, especially when dealing with children.

As for his romantic life, Keith is really only interested in one woman -- the woman he most likely can never have. He keeps his feelings for her bottled up inside, however, and refuses to let them go, even keeping the secret from his best friends -- Sven and Lance.

PRINCESS ALLURA

Princess Allura is the ruler of planet Arus and the pilot of the Blue Lion. Her age is about 18-20 and her appearance is that of a very beautiful, alluring woman. She has never failed to make a man give her a second glance. Though a bit naive, especially with matters of romance, Allura is a strong-willed person and is very capable of ruling her planet, though some like Coran and Nanny tend to disagree.

Ever since first piloting the Blue Lion, Allura has increasingly matured and become an excellent fighter, both in and out of her ship. Though she still has a ways to go, she is well on her way to becoming one of Arus' greatest leaders as well as a very strong woman. Allura also has a big heart, especially when it comes to her people. She would do almost anything to secure their happiness, which is why she began piloting the Blue Lion in the first place.

Allura is the one the guys like to tease, since she is the only female of the group. Lance especially likes to joke around with her. Sometimes, however, Allura can feel a bit left out, her being the stranger in the tight-knit group. But all four men would do anything to ensure her safety -- especially Keith. Allura's attraction to the Voltron Commander is not always apparent even to her, but there is no doubt she holds special feelings for him.

LANCE

Lance is the second in command of Voltron and pilots the Red Lion. He is a tall man, both wiry and wiley, about 21-23 years of age, and is the height of mellow. Lance is always cracking jokes and teasing the others whenever he gets the chance, and takes great pleasure in watching his teammates squirm. Regardless of that, however, he is a great pilot, though a bit too daring at times. He is the only one in the group who has the guts to contest any of Keith's commands -- something his commander finds increasingly annoying.

Lance is also a ladies' man. He is a shameless flirt, even around the Princess, and is not afraid to show off for any prospective females. Though this sometimes gets him into trouble, this trait in Lance is usually looked upon in amusement by his friends. It is never stated whether or not Lance ever had a girlfriend, though he did sort of have his eye on Lady Farla there for a while. Of course, with the Princess always giving him kisses on the cheek, it is unsure where his affections lie.

Lance can get pretty hot-headed at times, as Keith wholly knows, and sometimes acts irrationally to make his way work. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. No matter what, Lance's heart is always in the right place.

HUNK

Hunk is the strong-man of the group and pilots the Yellow Lion. He is about 22-24 years old. He may look tough and mean, but he has a soft heart, especially when it comes to children. Whenever he gets a chance, he'll visit the orphans in surrounding villages and play with them, tossing them high up into the air with ease. Children tend to take to him quite easily, regardless of his tough exterior. On the inside, Hunk is a real soft-heart, and is always ready to defend an innocent.

Hunk's only weakness is food. He is never late for a meal and always eager for seconds and thirds, sometimes fourths. Though his friends tease him about his appetite, most of Hunk's bulk is muscle, and he is often referred to as the "strong-man" of the group. Hunk is indeed the biggest and tallest of the group, a wide contrast to his best friend, Pidge. And because he is so tough, Hunk is always ready to take on the bad guy, even if it means using his fists -- which are actually quite effective.

Hunk has always found the Princess to be the most beautiful in the galaxy, however when it comes down to it, Hunk would prefer food over women. Of course, if he could have both, then that would be no problem for him. Hunk is basically a big teddy bear. He also tends to be protective of Pidge, the youngest, and affectionately calls him "Little Buddy".

PIDGE

Pidge is the youngest and smallest of the group and pilots the Green Lion. He is approximately 16-18 years old. He graduated from the academy at a young age, and his specialty in sciences, of course. Pidge is also a very good pilot and can handle himself very well in air combat. And though he may be small, Pidge can also put up a fight in hand-to-hand combat as well. Like the others, he is well-trained in martial arts and uses his size and agility to his advantage.

Though he is sometimes teased for his size -- Lance sometimes calls him "Squirt" -- Pidge is in no way insecure about himself. In fact, he has made it widely known he is attracted to Allura, though of course not even he takes this seriously. Pidge is not afraid to speak his mind, especially to the bad guys, and his heart is often in his words. Like Lance, Pidge can sometimes get worked up about a situation, but he always knows what his boundaries are, unlike the Red Lion pilot.

Pidge is the "cute" one of the bunch and is treated like everyone's little brother. He has had little to no romantic involvement thus far, though there is no doubt he is eager for such a relationship. He still has some growing to do, though, so he is really in no hurry.

SVEN

Sven was the second in command and piloted the Blue Lion in the very beginning of the series, but shortly after was badly injured and sent away to be healed. He was replaced by Allura. His age is about the same as Keith's. He now resides on the Planet Pollux with the Princess Romella and Prince Bandor, both cousins to Allura. He decided to stay to help them repel Lotor's Doom forces and maintain peace on the planet -- though he may just have some ulterior motives for his decision.

Sven was always very quiet and spoke only when he had something important to say. Though he may not look it, Sven is a very emotional person, and his heart is always leading his mind in any decision. He felt devastated when he couldn't help Voltron, but he found new hope with Romelle and Bandor. The Polluxian Princess gave Sven the motivation he needed to continue the struggle against the Drule empire. Sven is a very courageous, very brave man and never fights without purpose.

Sven fell in love with Romelle almost from the day he first met her. At first he hid his feelings, feeling himself a lowly pilot and her a Princess, but eventually he saw past that and admitted his feelings to her. Lucky for him she felt the same way!

CORAN

Coran is Allura's royal advisor, and he is also in charge of Castle Control. He also advises the Voltron Force and is very wise, though he can be very overprotective and opinionated sometimes. He and Nanny are always reigning in the Princess, never allowing her to get too close to danger. Allura, however, almost always finds a way to work around Coran's orders concerning her welfare, much to his annoyance. Though he loves the Princess very much, Coran doesn't always understand her, especially when it comes to her feelings.

NANNY

Nanny is Allura's over-protective caregiver who always wants to make all of Allura's decisions for her. Like Coran, Nanny fusses over the Princess and is bent on keeping her away from all harm. Fortunately, Allura doesn't always let her have her way. Though they both love each other very much, Nanny and Allura often argue over Nanny's desires for the Princess -- especially the marriage issue. Nanny is also often hard on the boys, never fully trusting them with Allura's welfare and always admonishing them for the slightest thing. She especially likes to come down on Lance.

KING ALFOR

King Alfor is Allura's deceased father and previous ruler of Arus. He returns to the world of the living every so often in a ghostly form to give advice to her daughter to help her in her struggles to maintain peace on Arus and the surrounding galaxy. Not much is known about this man, except he was evidently a great ruler and a great man.

PRINCESS ROMELLE

Princess Romelle is Allura's cousin who lives on the planet Pullux, where she co-rules with her brother, Prince Bandor. Though once a slave of Lotor, Sven came to her rescue and together they fight for her people against the Drule empire. She is also in love with Sven, who returns her feelings.

  BAD GUYS

PRINCE LOTOR

Prince Lotor is the evil son of the Drule King Zarkon. He dislikes his father greatly and wishes to rule in his place along with Princess Allura, to whom he's grown a strong, obsessive attraction. Lotor is constantly trying Voltron's might and prowess, but almost always returns home defeated.

Lotor is a very sly, smart, smooth, powerful man who exudes force and emanates pure evil. His many atrocities are well-known throughout the galaxies -- almost any crime has surely been committed by him. Lotor is ruthless and hard, even to his own family, with his one and only weakness being the Princess Allura.

KING ZARKON

King Zarkon is one of the rulers of the Drule empire, though by no means the absolute ruler. He is constantly using others as scapegoats for his own failures, more often his son Lotor. Though in Voltron: 3D Zarkon is on the good guys' side, there is no doubt in my mind he is still evil.

HAGAR

Hagar the witch is the one responsible for creating all of the Robeasts Voltron must go up against. She is also notorious for using her dark magic to cast hypnotizing spells over people. Though she was once good and beautiful, she is now dark and ugly. Her pet Kitty is her constant companion.
